 FUNDAMENTALS OF MANAGEMENT

Topics: Select Any One:

1.     INTERVIEW: Select any medium-sized unit or large-scale unit situated in and around your city. Interview at least 3-5 people of that organization. Take care to see that you interview top level employees or upper middle level managers only. Your interview should help you to obtain the following information:

·        The basis used for departmentalization of the units.

·        Span of control used in each organization.

·        The number of layers in the hierarchy

·        Ratio of managers to total employee and ratio of managerial to production employees

·        The degree of formalization

·        The degree of centralization and decentralization.

·        The dominant technology used

·        Methods used to monitor actions of employees

·        unusual structural features if any

The report should contain the following additional points

·        The alternative structure suggested, if any, you would have designed if you were the CEO of that business

·        For the evidence of your visit, kindly attach Visiting cards of the people met and the photograph of your visit or interview.

·        Provide references and bibliography for all the data.

2.     LEADERSHIP: Select five different leaders and identify their different leadership style under different situations.

·        Each Leader selected should be from different backgrounds like Political, Business, Science, Nobel, etc.

·        The report should be concluded with the table comparing all leaders on different parameters

·        Kindly add references and bibliography at the end.

3.     EVENT: Suppose you are organizing an event, how would you plan and execute it by using management theories. Explain and justify.

·        The content should clarify the team tasks, event scheduling, planning, guests/visitors expected, venue, and every minute details.

·        The report should include the financial worksheet.

·        Provide references and bibliography for all the data.

The assignment should be according to the following format:

·        Word document file, Cover page including title, second page with group details, table of contents, your main project content, conclusion, suggestion, bibliography

·        Format: Times new roman, justified alignment, Headings font size 14-18, main text font size 12 only.

·        Submission should consist of both Report and Presentation in hard copy format.
